Terms of Service

1. The service

FamSync provides a privacy-respecting coordination platform for co-parents and their wider family network. Core features include:

• Shared custody calendar with role color coding
• Expenses tracking with OCR receipt recognition
• Messaging with on-device emotional tone indicator
• Shared documents, lists and family information
• PDF export of the family record
• Optional video calls and location check-ins

FamSync is free. It is meant for adults who coordinate the care of children: you must be of legal age in your country to use it.

2. Your family and your access

FamSync signs you in anonymously: there is no password. A family is joined with its family code or invite link, and anyone who has the code can ask to join. Keep the code private and share it only with the people you want in your family. You can optionally link a Google account to find your family again on a new phone.

You are responsible for the people you invite and for the role you give them. Professional roles (lawyer, mediator) are read-only.

3. Your content

Messages, photos, documents, expenses and the other information you enter remain yours. You give us only the permission needed to store them and show them to the members of your family, so that the service can work. You are responsible for what you post, and you must have the right to share it.

4. Acceptable use: zero tolerance

FamSync has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not use FamSync to:

• harass, threaten, intimidate or bully another member;
• post content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, violent or sexually explicit;
• share intimate images of anyone without their consent;
• post any content that sexualises, endangers or exploits minors;
• impersonate someone else, or enter a family you were not invited to;
• infringe the privacy or the intellectual property of others;
• upload malicious code or try to disrupt the service.

We may remove content that breaks these Terms and suspend or end the access of whoever posted it. Content that exploits minors will be reported to the competent authorities.

5. Safety tools and reporting

• Tone indicator: before you send, the app reviews your text on your device and points out sentences that may sound hostile. It never blocks a message. The warning is shown only to you, but the PDF export marks the messages that were flagged when sent.
• Safety Mode: limits the consecutive messages that can be sent without a reply.
• Safety Pause: a parent can say they are stepping back for a while, and the other parent sees it. It restricts neither of them.
• Report: long-press a message and choose «Report» to record it in your family's shared record. Turn on «Also send to FamSync» to send it to us as well: your email app opens with the message text, its date, the roles of the sender and of the person reporting, and the reason. You see the email, and can change it, before you send it.
• Block: in a conversation, open the menu and choose «Block». That person can no longer message or call you, and the conversation leaves your list; messages already sent stay in the record and in the export. You can unblock from «Blocked people» in the conversation list. The two parents cannot block each other: their conversation is the record of their communications, and Safety Mode and the Safety Pause are there for them.

To report abuse or objectionable content to us, use «Also send to FamSync» or write to famsync.coparent@gmail.com describing what happened and, if you can, the date and time of the message. We reply to every report within 48 hours.

6. Not a legal tool

FamSync is a shared organiser. It does not give legal, medical or psychological advice, and the plans and schedules it shows do not replace your agreements or the decisions of a court. A PDF export reproduces what the members entered: we do not guarantee that a court or an authority will accept it as evidence.

7. Advertising and the «No ads» subscription

FamSync is supported by advertising. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads.

The optional «No ads» subscription removes advertising; every feature stays free without it. It is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play and charged to that account. It renews automatically every month unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel it at any time from your store account settings. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Refunds follow the policies of Apple or Google.

8. App stores and third-party services

If you downloaded FamSync from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Some features rely on third-party services (for example Google Firebase, Google AdMob, Jitsi video calls, Google Calendar), which follow their own terms. The privacy policy explains which data they receive.

9. Availability and liability

We work to keep FamSync available and your data safe, but the service is provided «as is» and may change, be interrupted or be discontinued. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages or for the loss of data you did not keep elsewhere. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or the rights that consumer law gives you.

10. Ending your use

You can leave a family, or delete your account and the family data from the app menu («Delete account and family data»), at any time. We may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms.

11. Changes, law and contact

We may update these Terms; the date below changes with every update, and we announce important changes in the app or on this page. These Terms are governed by Italian law; if you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections and the courts of the country where you live.
